SEC.01 — ENGINEERING

Engineered for Real Buildings

The Vallum FRX is not decorative trim bolted to drywall. It is a structural panel system designed to meet the mechanical and fire safety demands of commercial construction, from high-rise lobbies to exterior cladding at altitude.

Every component is purpose-built: the aluminum substrate handles wind loads and seismic forces. The interlocking rail system allows rapid field mounting without specialized tools. The foliage matrix is factory secured to eliminate jobsite adhesive failures.

We test at the assembly level, not the component level. This means the entire panel -- substrate, foliage, and mounting hardware -- passes NFPA 701 Method 2 as a unified system, not as isolated parts claiming compliance by association. SEC.04 — PERFORMANCE

Why Architects Specify Vallum

Six engineering decisions that separate Vallum FRX from commodity panel products.

01

Assembly-Level Fire Testing

The complete panel assembly -- substrate, adhesive, and foliage -- is tested as one unit under NFPA 701 Method 2. No component-level extrapolation or "inherently fire-resistant" claims.

02

Structural Aluminum Substrate

6061-T6 aluminum handles wind loads up to 30 PSF and seismic Zone 4 forces. This is not foam or plastic backing -- it is structural material that engineers can calculate against.

03

factory secured Foliage

Foliage is secured under controlled factory conditions before shipping. This reduces adhesive failures, supports uniform density, and enables QC inspection before the product reaches the project site.

04

Tool-Free Panel Access

Z-clip rails allow any individual panel to be removed and replaced without disturbing adjacent panels. Critical for maintenance access, damage repair, and future reconfiguration.

05

3000+ Hour UV Aging

Accelerated weathering tests prove color stability far beyond typical 500-hour certifications. Real-world performance: 5-7 years exterior in direct sun, 10+ years in controlled indoor environments. See the full outdoor artificial living wall spec.

06

Custom Pattern Engineering

Each project gets a unique foliage pattern plan. Species mix, color gradient, and density are mapped per panel to create organic visual movement across the full installation area.

SEC.05 — INSTALLATION

Installation Process

Vallum FRX installs in a fraction of the time required by live plant systems. No irrigation plumbing, no waterproofing membrane, no growing medium. The Z-clip rail system mounts directly to steel stud, CMU, or concrete substrates.

Average install rate: 200 sq ft per day with a two-person crew. A 1,000 sq ft lobby wall completes in under a week, including rail layout, panel mounting, and edge trim.

Nationwide support: We handle freight logistics to all 50 states and support your installing contractor with site-measurement guidance and commissioning documentation. California installation is performed by Geranium Street USA, Inc., CSLB #955154.

SEC.06 — FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Vallum FRX tested to NFPA 701 Method 2?
Vallum FRX is tested to NFPA 701 Method 2 at the assembly level — the substrate, adhesive, and foliage are tested together as one unit rather than as isolated components. The 6061-T6 aluminum backing panel is non-combustible (Euroclass A1), so the assembly's fire performance reflects the finished wall exactly as installed.
What materials is Vallum FRX built from?
The backing is powder-coated 6061-T6 aluminum manufactured to ASTM B209, mounted on a 16-gauge galvanized steel Z-clip rail meeting ASTM A653. The foliage is UV-stable polyethylene and LDPE. The complete assembly is salt-spray tested to ASTM B117 for corrosion resistance in coastal and exterior environments.
How fast does Vallum FRX install?
A two-person crew installs Vallum FRX at approximately 200 square feet per day using the Z-clip rail system, with no irrigation, waterproofing, or growing medium required. California installation is performed by Geranium Street USA, Inc., CSLB #955154.
