SEC.01

Choose the right living-wall system before you choose the foliage.

Artificial living walls are not one product. Interior feature walls, weather-exposed exteriors, lobby installations, and hospitality projects each call for a different system. This page routes you to the right path first, then to the foliage. Samples, specifications, NFPA 701 documentation, and nationwide product shipping follow from there.

SEL.02

Find the correct living-wall path.

Start with the situation, not the product. Each path leads to the right system and foliage options for your project.

Interior feature wall

A fixed interior feature wall

A defined, permanent wall inside a finished space, mounted to structure with a controlled edge and depth. The Vallum FRX framed system is built for this.

Exterior / weather exposure

An outdoor or weather-exposed wall

Sun, wind, heat, rain, and drainage change what product is appropriate. Exterior projects are reviewed and configured separately from interior work.

Lobby / reception

A lobby or reception wall

High-visibility, high-traffic entry walls with sightlines, lighting, and finish considerations specific to first impressions.

Hospitality

A hotel, restaurant, or resort

Guest-facing greenery planned around operations, venue review, and documentation. Hospitality projects have their own considerations.

Architect / GC / procurement

Specifying or procuring for a project

Submittals, spec support, quantities, lead time, freight, and documentation for architects, general contractors, and procurement teams.

Freestanding / movable

Screening or a movable divider

Not a fixed wall. Freestanding panels and hedge dividers that are not attached to the building and can be relocated.

Documentation-sensitive

A project that needs fire documentation

When a venue, landlord, insurer, or authority having jurisdiction has asked for fire documentation, start with the documentation itself.

CMP.03

Three distinctions that decide the system.

Most selection mistakes come from collapsing these into a single product. They are separate decisions.

Panel format

Flexible panelsFoliage mats that conform to columns, curves, and irregular backing. Suited to broad coverage over an existing surface.
Framed systemsAn engineered frame such as Vallum FRX carries the foliage as a defined feature wall with a finished edge and controlled depth.

Fixed vs freestanding

Fixed feature wallMounted to structure and treated as permanent, reviewed as part of the building.
Freestanding screeningMovable dividers and hedge panels that are not attached to the building. See artificial boxwood hedges.

Shipping vs installation

Nationwide product shippingProduct, samples, and specifications ship anywhere in the country.
California installationInstallation in California is handled by Califauxscapes. Availability elsewhere is confirmed per project.

FLOW.05

What happens after you send the project.

Selection continues after the first message. The path narrows to one confirmed configuration before anything is ordered.

01

Document the site

Dimensions, location, exposure, substrate, access, and any photographs or drawings are collected so the wall is understood before a product is proposed.

02

Define the use

Interior or exterior, fixed or freestanding, feature wall or broad coverage, and whether a venue or reviewer has asked for documentation.

03

Match the configuration

The system, foliage, backing, and attachment are matched to the documented site and use, along with any applicable NFPA 701 Method 2 documentation.

04

Confirm before order

Product, quantities, lead time, freight, and samples are confirmed with you so the proposal and the paperwork agree before anything is produced.

Send the wall width and height, project city, interior or exterior exposure, photographs or drawings, substrate information if known, desired appearance, schedule, and whether a venue or reviewer has requested fire documentation.
Not automatically. Exposure, drainage, wind, heat, cleaning, backing, attachment, and foliage construction can change the appropriate product. The exterior page and project review are used to confirm an outdoor configuration.
No. Documentation is tied to the exact applicable product or configuration and supports review. The venue, landlord, insurer, fire marshal, building official, or other authority having jurisdiction decides whether it is acceptable.
